Hooked: A research
project into the genetics of Kahawai (Arripis trutta ).
This website was been set up to assist with a research project into the genetics of kahawai, by Brenton Hodgson, an MSc student at Victoria University of Wellington. This research was conducted in 2009-2010 to determine how many genetically isolated breeding populations of kahawai there are in New Zealand, and how much mixing between populations occurs. Recreational and commercial fishers around the country kindly suppled samples of material for the study, which has now been completed. The results of the project will be published here in early 2011. Brenton can be contacted at brenton@hooked.net.nz.
